Jehovah’s Witnesses: Where are the scriptures that say Jesus is Michael the Archangel?
According to the Watchtower, Jesus Christ is really Michael the Archangel.
The Watchtower Society New World Translation (NWT) mentions Michael five times as:
1) “one of the foremost princes” (Dan. 10:13);
2) “the prince of [Daniel's] people” (Dan. 10:21);
3) “the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of [Daniel's] people” (Dan. 12:1);
4) “the archangel” who “had a difference with the devil and was disputing about Moses body” but “did not dare to bring a judgment against him in abusive terms” (Jude 9); and
5) a participant in heavenly conflict when “Michael and his angels battled with the dragon” (Rev. 12:7).
Which of these demonstrate or suggest that Jesus is Michael?
1 Thessalonians 4:16 says the Lord has the voice of an archangel. Also, there is only one angelic army yet they are called Michael’s angels in one verse and in another verse they are Jesus’ angel, that would tell you that Michael and Jesus are the same person. Also, the angel described in the begining verses of Revelation 10 is described with descriptions applied also to Jesus telling you that the Angel described is Jesus. He is arrayed with a cloud, Jesus is to return in the clouds. The angels face shines as the sun, Jesus’ face shone as the sun during the transfiguration in Matthew.He has a rainbow upon his head, earlier there is described a rainbow over the throne of God, so this angel has God’s authority. He roars as a lion, Jesus is the Lion out of the tribe of Judah. The angel has one foot placed upon the sea and one upon the land, Jesus has authority over all the earth. And importantly, the angel is holding a little scroll in his hand, just a few chapters earlier, Jesus our Lord is said to be the only one worthy of opening the little scroll. Then if this angel is then Jesus and he is over the angels, then he would be the chief angel, or archangel.
