Now in days, after several games including the 37-27 loss against Baltimore this past Sunday November the 2nd, Anderson has been confused on the field. Due to this and after only 8 passes in 2 seasons, Brady Quinn will probably get the chance of his career, as coach Romeo Crennel decided an early week change on the QB.

In the NFL, if a quarterback is sick or injured during game time it is obvious he must be replaced, but if he is benched for pricey errors such as interceptions that at the end cost a game, then player substitution is the proper word to use.

Please don’t get me wrong, as we know: before Baltimore’s Terrell Suggs could stop Anderson, the QB went 132 pass attempts uninterrupted; at the end Anderson managed to make 17 right passes of 33, 219 yards, plus the two touchdowns. So, he is not the only one with part of the guilt; there is as well wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who messed up a very good pass in the last quarter, which would have easily reach the end zone to score.

It’s been two very long periods on the bench for Brady Quinn and if the Browns are aiming high this mid-season, they must make drastic changes on the QB position. It has work for other teams such as the New England Patriots, sure is a different situation because Tom Brady is injured, but still Matt Cassel has been average despite the fact he was a bench warmer as Quinn.

I must say that Brady Quinn has not waste any time during weekly trainings… I mean seriously, how many rookie QB’s in two starts can complete 21 of 33 passes for 171 yards? Well, Brady has! And in the NFL the backup quarterback is only one play away to make history as the guy who saved the day, or perhaps as a lucky moment decision.

For a moment let’s forget that Quinn dropped to the 22nd position on the draft after being on the top 5; this incredible athlete threw for 3,426 yards and 37 TDs in 2006, his fourth and final year at Notre Dame and if these stats don’t convince fans that he is a good choice to substitute Anderson the next games, then prove me wrong.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel, needs some time to review and decide if Quinn is ready for the elite position, this type of mind ups are dangerous and have cost some good coaches their spot in the NFL, but again a change had to take place soon. Derek Anderson is just one of the problems the team has to deal with, like the offense mistakes or the terrible defensive lineman who could not protect Anderson during the game that they didn’t mention.

If Quinn is smart and able to start on any game the next couple of weeks, he must take into consideration that the quarterback is the man who deserves respect and as always in the NFL is the one who leads the team.
